The Italian Banking Association (Associazione Bancaria
Italiana, hereinafter "ABI") is a voluntary
non-profit association with over 1,000 members
including banks (in the form of companies limited
by shares), financial intermediaries and associations
of banks. The role of ABI consists in raising
the awareness, in the civil society and in the
banking and financial system, of such social
values and behaviours as are inspired by the
principles of entrepreneurship and creation of
a free and competitive market, in line with domestic
and EU regulations.
"Microfinance represents an opportunity
for banks in their capacity as active parties that
promote financial inclusion through the development
of innovative services under cost-effective conditions."
--Giuseppe Zadra, General Manager of ABI
