Adie (Association pour le Droit à l'Initiative
Economique) is a microcredit association financing
and providing business support to unemployed and
people on welfare creating microenterprises. It has
more than 11,000 active clients and covers all the
territory of France with 100 branches and 300 contact
points.
Adie tries to combine the initiative of people from
the labor market and the solidarity of the society.
The reason of our succes is a strong demand as well
as the support of the French banks, public institutions
and the European Social Fund.
We hope that the Year of Microcredit will help us
eliminating major obstacles to the development of
microcredit such as the cap on interest rates.
"2005 is for us an opportunity to extend microcredit in developing countries
and also to open access to credit to the excluded in Europe"
-- Maria Nowak, President of Adie, EMN and the Coordination
Committee of Coordination Sud, Cerise and Finansol.
