Diederik Laman Trip
Chairman, ING Netherlands
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Advisor for the International Year of Microcredit 2005
“Working in financial services nearly all
my life, I have seen how people’s businesses
can grow over time. This process is initiated through
people’s own innovation and ideas. But often
a bank or insurer plays a role in shaping dreams
and plans into realities. Many people, especially
in the developing world, do not have access to basic
financial services; thus they cannot grow their assets
and income to provide for their families. For me
this situation clearly illustrates the importance
of building financial sectors for all.”
Diederik Laman Trip currently is the Managing Director Communications
and Corporate Affairs ING Group and Chairman of ING Netherlands.
From 2000 until 2004 he was member of the Executive Committee
of ING Europe and responsible for Retail and Commercial Financial
Services. From 1996 till the end of 1999 he was Chairman
of the Postbank in the Netherlands. He has been working for
ING and its predecessors for more than 25 years.
